Good to hear! Maybe reducing some scenery complexity settings (if thatโ€™s possible in Xplane) may help.

Thanks for the progress update Ian.

I just recently acquired a whole new machine myself but still haven’t properly configured it yet.

I’m sure the upgrade will serve you well!

As a side note, you’re doing very well in the systems modules. I hope you’re enjoying it!

    Hi Ian,

It wasn’t a moderation thing, for some reason the system flagged it as a “spam” post, so I had to go back in and mark it as ok. It’s there now! ๐Ÿ™‚

    Thanks for posting the links.

I’m glad you’re enjoying the book-work and very glad you’re getting some value out of the AOA product. Several of us here have done, or in some cases still do aircraft systems training classes for a living, so we get it, very few really LIKE in-depth systems study but you’ll find that what you’re learning will pay off and make you a better virtual aviator. You’ll be glad you did it.

We do have the MidCon facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/midconairlines) but you’ll probably find that fairly quiet as well. We are slowing getting more pilots in the training pipeline but like you, they are heads-down in the books! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m sure you’ll start to see the boards become more active over time!

    Hi Ian,

You bring up a valid point. Authorized weights can vary depending on configuration and certification.

I’ll work on documentation for our fleet to avoid confusion in the future.

    MCA 737-800 Maximum Weights:

    Taxi: 174,700
    Takeoff: 174,200
    Landing: 146,300
    Zero Fuel: 136,000

From a functional standpoint it should work fine.

SimACARS works with X-plane so there won’t be any issues with line flying and completing trips.

As far as I know the only shortfall we have with X-plane is that the Zibo mod 737 doesn’t simulate any systems failures, and (as previously mentioned) lack of company paint, but that one should be easy enough to remedy.

    Hello Ian,

    Congratulations on completing basic indoctrination.

Now that you’ve completed BI, the 737 systems testing is available to you.

It’s broken down into 15 separate quizzes based on each system chapter from the Boeing 737 Operating Manual Volume II.

Once you work your way through all of these you’ll be well-versed in all of the aircraft systems, as this is all based off of real-world testing material for pilot training.

Let us know if you run into any difficulties or if we can be of any assistance!

As Don can attest, one of the most frequently asked questions we received at our booth at Expo last weekend was “do you guys support X-plane”?

The only thing about X-plane that’s not currently supported is liveries. We simply don’t have any of our company paint available for X-plane models.

I’ll be looking at this a little closer in the coming days.

    Hello Ian, and welcome!

Yes, please do not feel like you need to rush through it. It’s supposed to take a little time.

If you have any questions as you’re working your way through, don’t hesitate to ask. You can post in the training forum for the most visibility and likely the quickest response, or you can email training@midconair.net directly.

    Good luck and have fun!

    Mike
